About Penny Lane Rock Cafe
Penny Lane Rock Cafe is a rock themed bar that has been going since 1997 and all those years has been run by Norwegian Roy and his family. Penny Lane caters to a lot of Norwegians and other Scandinavians, but will also regularly be visited by guests from a whole range of other countries. Penny Lane is a bar where you will meet and socialize and where it is easy to make friends.
The bar plays classic rock tunes, but at an acceptable volume and conversation is encouraged. Its location in a quiet lane just off the Green Mango strip makes it a welcome change where you can actually enjoy an evening without noisy advertising trucks and smelly exhaust from cars and motorbikes. However, still you are only a handful of minutes away from the more rowdy nightclub action if you fancy a change of scenery. Penny Lane also has a pool table, darts, books, and other bar games customers can use free of charge. Free and fast wi-fi if you want to use your phone or tablet. Live sports on demand is shown on two TV-screens.
Friday Live Music
Every Friday, Samui’s best Thai rock band, The Black Roses, will play live at Penny Lane like they have done for the last 10 years or so. It is not unusual that guest musicians turn up and jam with the band. Some Fridays have a great mix of excellent musicians and a party atmosphere in the audience. The Black Roses start playing about 9.30-10pm, but if you like to come earlier you will be treated with free food, usually a stew or soup plus Thai food which will be served 8.30ish.
